Caesarstone’s annual Student Designer Competition 2024 has launched! The competition is a design contest for second and third-year interior design and architecture students from South African institutions, sponsored by Caesarstone. Below are some details on the competition:
The Brief: To design a museum of South African languages in the Maropeng Precinct, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Cradle of Humankind, showcasing the linguistic diversity and heritage of the country.
The Guidelines: The design should aim to preserve and revitalise endangered languages, present a vibrant celebration of linguistic diversity, and integrate with the existing infrastructure. The museum should comprise of various spaces such as exhibition halls, educational rooms, audio-visual room, library, cafeteria, gift shop, etc. The total programme area should be between 2000m2 and 2200m2.
The Prize: The winner and their lecturer will be sent on an all-expenses-paid trip to an international design fair of their choice, courtesy of Caesarstone worth R100,000. There are also cash prizes for second, third, and best presentation.
